Y-3 Spring 2011: Rocked Out

Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto with a partnership with Adidas shows are known for the drama and production, this year it did not disappoint. The feel of the show was rock and roll extravaganza. Yamamoto has learned to turn traditional active wear into street fashion with his 80's rock and roll meets goth collection. The color palette was minimal with it mostly being black and white with occasional pops of color appearing, with a couple of head to toe red looks, a touch of green, and some blue thrown in. The sporty yet tailored collection featured cropped tanks for women paired with flowing sarongs, pleated skirts and black leggings with ruffled knees. For men he showed a khaki suit in a techy looking fabric with a rain hood, and dress shirts with the fabric and zippers of tracksuits. But the best part of the show and what everyone went for was to see the new sneakers ( pointy toe laced high tops).
