Cypress Hill signs with Snoop

Snoop Dogg has made his first signing as Creative Chairman of Priority Records, adding West Coast rappers Cypress Hill to the revived label’s roster. Snoop and Cypress Hill made the announcement on yesterday’s Lopez Tonight show, where the Black Sunday band performed their hit “Insane in the Brain.” Cypress Hill will release Rise Up, their first album since 2004’s Til Death Do Us Part, on April 6th.

According to Snoop Dogg, “Cypress Hill is undeniably one of the most important hip hop groups in music history, not only are they incredibly talented and the first Latino hip hop group to go platinum, they are also from the west coast-so this signing is the perfect marriage.”

Having released its debut album nearly two decades ago, Cypress Hill has sold more than eighteen million albums and hits including Insane In The Brain.

In related news, guitarist TOM MORELLO has joined CYPRESS HILL on the rap act’s comeback album.

Rage Against The Machine star Morello will appear on the title track of Rise Up and another tune when the new release hits stores in April (10). The guitarist says, “It was great to work with my longtime friends and comrades.”

Cypress Hill are Snoop Dogg’s first signing to Priority Records. The rapper is the label’s new creative chairman.
